Secret recording of LA liberals exposes the Left’s hypocrisy on racism

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
In this case, the downed timbers are the recently disclosed nasty insults levied by Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez, who was surreptitiously recorded during what can best be described as an old “smoke-filled room” type of political hustle.
Martinez, who was regarded as an up-and-coming Democrat in California politics, let just about everybody have it during a one-hour planning session that left no racial holds barred.
The recently leaked audio of her meeting with two council colleagues and an official from the Federation of Labor raises lots of questions but easily settles one: Was Martinez a racist when she made her comments a year ago, or only when they were discovered a few days ago?
Apparently believing that her colorful commentary was a private communication that would never be seen or heard in the larger “forest” of public knowledge, Martinez unleashed a verbal potpourri of insults that covered a lot of territories and attacked a lot of people.
“F*** (the DA) he’s with the Blacks,” rolled off her tongue like butter. No mistaking how she felt there.
But the haymaker among her snarky chastisements was reserved for a fellow council member, Mike Bonin — a white man she described as a “little bitch” — and his adopted black toddler, whom Martinez reportedly described in Spanish as “a little monkey.”
Note: It is fairly understood that comparing any black person to a monkey is, per se, racist.
Nevertheless, when did Martinez become a racist? Had she always harbored racist sentiments or was this a one-and-done?
Despite the harsh descriptions echoing from the recording from a year ago, the real focus of this California horror story is the corrupt backroom deal-making that went on behind closed doors and included Federation of Labor President Ron Herrera, who has reportedly since resigned his post.
In glaring hypocrisy, these California Democrats showed they are the racist, bigoted, power-hungry elitists they claim to detest.
The executive board of the American Federation of Musicians Local 47 released a statement that says it all.
“The hateful language used during this meeting, held within the walls of the House of Labor, was entirely unacceptable, as was the very nature of the meeting itself — scheming to disenfranchise Black and Asian voters by way of redistricting, the practice of which is deeply rooted in racial discrimination. These are not the values of the labor movement.”
So back to my question:
What if the damning recording had never been leaked to the press?
Could it be that Martinez and company would have simply continued in their official roles despite the racist sentiments?
Would Martinez have remained comfortable uttering such off-limits comments as her reference to Bonin’s son and other stupid stuff she said?
To quote David Addison from Moonlighting: “Do bears bear, do bees bee, is Helen Reddy? “
Of course, now that we all can see that the tree has indeed fallen — and her racist, bigoted, and plainly stupid statements take center stage — there are plenty of ax welders who want a good go at chopping out some California corruption. Even a few Democrats!
Putting aside the questions of who it was that recorded Martinez and her colleagues — or whether it was proper or legal to do so — what if no one had? Answer: Martinez would still be a racist at the helm of the Los Angeles City Council. Only none of us would know her true colors (no pun intended).
How many other racist Democrats like Martinez are out there as elected officials — masquerading as friends to Blacks and other minority groups?
We don’t know because we haven’t heard the tree fall.
Martinez‘s comments were stupid, plain, and simple. Is there a difference between being stupid, thinking stupid, and saying stupid? Perhaps it’s all in the confirmation.
If stupid can be described as a fallen tree in the forest, we all drop trees more than we like to admit. Whether anyone cares is dependent upon the density of one’s forest.
One fellow with his own dense forest is President Joe Biden. He has called on the embattled city councilwoman and her colleagues to resign over their recorded comments, despite Joe having some key hot mic moments himself.
Just days before the news broke on Martinez, Biden was traveling in Florida after Hurricane Ian when he was overheard saying to a public official, “You don’t f*** with a Biden.” Sounds a bit ominous, perhaps even corrupt. Does he mean “don’t f*** with” him directly or it will turn out badly for you?
Or maybe he means Hunter. He’s a Biden, too.
I mean, if we mess with a Biden, we may face an FBI raid or an IRS audit.
Or what about when Biden called a Fox News reporter “a stupid son of a bitch?” Biden was thinking about it and went ahead and said it. Might be a stupid thing to say, but not necessarily racist. Most people can distinguish between calling someone “a stupid son of a bitch” and “a little monkey.” Perhaps it’s all a matter of context.
But what about Biden‘s past comment that “you ain’t black if you don’t vote Democrat?” Racist?
Is there any doubt that with all the known gaffes that Biden has made over the years that there exist some real gems that have the fortune (or misfortune) of not being recorded for posterity — and therefore remain still silent in the woods?
Whether Martinez and her ilk resigned from the Los Angeles City Council or not meant very little. Their behavior is characteristic of the heavy-handed big-city “boss” style politics that’s wresting freedom away from regular folks and denying truth while pushing an agenda that’s driving up crime, homelessness, and hatred all across America.
The Martinez brouhaha is just a peek behind the curtain.
